The Technology museum
Submarine Wilhelm Bauer

in Bremerhaven

Dive into history!

Experience a real submarine from the Second World War up close in the museum harbor of the seaside city of Bremerhaven – a fascinating experience for technology enthusiasts of all ages.

Step aboard the last surviving Type 21 submarine, a masterpiece of engineering that revolutionized submarine construction worldwide. For the first time, boats of this type were able to remain under water for long periods at high speed – a technical milestone!

Although the “Wilhelm Bauer” was never used in wartime operations, it still has exciting stories to tell. After being sunk by the crew at the end of the war, she was salvaged and used as a test ship for the German Navy.

On board, you will experience the cramped conditions, feel the interaction between man and technology and the atmosphere in which 58 men went on a diving trip, surrounded by the enormous pressure of the water. Let yourself be touched by the story and join us in making a plea for the responsible and peaceful use of technology.

Welcome aboard – your adventure begins now!
